Well, it’s been a long time since my last update, so my apologies for that. I just wanted to make a quick note and let y’all know I’m still around!  ”Everyday life” has been beatin the wallet and time up a lot lately, but bear with me – I’ll be back in the studio soon hopefully. I miss being in the booth bad. It eats at me. Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know I’m still in this.

Just put a new track together at Undercaste Studios the other day (April 30,2010 – Friday). It’s called “3 Shots” and the one and only Dice (www.twitter.com/onlyonedice and www.myspace.com/likeapairofdice) jumped on the hook and the harmony for me. Big ups to her! Randy flew the ship and made it happen..big ups to him as well. Another shout out is to my amigos over at YEYO’ TEQUILA (www.yeyotequila.com) in Portland, OR who I had to mention on the track! Jon Bullinger is doing big things over there!

Anyways, it was definitely a new experience for me on this song. I learned quite a few things during this session and song. One thing I went through was the fact that it was a new delivery for me. I’m used to doing more of a “and/or” rockier, harder, deeper,aggressive, or thoughtful edge on my music. It’s all either any of those factors or at least one. I’m not usually one to do club jumpin tracks. I’m also not one to subtract as many lyrics from my songs as possible. I’m ALSO not one to talk about getting my drink on and bragging….all of which I did on this track. It was actually harder for me to deliver a “simple” song than my usual word filled barrage of lines.

Randy had to keep tellin me “put some swag on it man”. I said in so many words that my swag was nothing like anybody elses and from another planet..so puttin the “collar poppin, shade rockin, on v-8 tilt” swag as everybody thinks of was not my usual forte’. Do I have my own style of swagger? You better believe it. Do I have the swag they’re throwin out on the videos and mass-media? Nahhhh, but that’s what makes me..ME.

I’ve also never walked into a song situation saying, “I dunno what it’s called, about, or how I want it to go…I just wrote these lyrics to the beat. Let’s just see what happens”. Bear in mind, I’m one of the ONLY artists in the entire hiphop game, that I know of, that brings in printed up (typed) lyrics and gives the producer their own copy so they can follow along easier. I bring in the laptop so I can do some outreaching while the producer is cleaning things up. I just like to be organized in this game as much as I can. So for me to come in like that was out of my realm.

However…it was good. It was good for me to get out of my lyrical comfort zone..subject wise and delivery wise. I won’t be AS free-swinging about my songs in the future, but I guess at least once, it was good to come in with not much direction beyond “let’s just have some fun”. It taught me a lot and it was good to get it out of my system. I enjoyed collabing with Dice (who is a great singer) and it is one more song done for the album. I will be recording “Flight” next professionally (the original version was done at the crib. It’s time to up it to album quality level), and after that I will be halfway done with the album. WhuWhuuut!

So I hope everybody enjoys the new track. Right now, Randy has a few minor tweaks to do (which we do this upcoming Friday), and it will be ready to send out. It was difficult for me to grasp that some songs don’t need much. A good catchy hook (thanks again Dice!), a few fun lines, and a poppin beat and a track goes over well. I’m always learning in this game, and this was no different. I learned a LOT this time actually. I’ll leave that..at that.

Well, again, enjoy the track and always let me know what yall think of the music. I will say that apparently this song got hate by one person on a post (which i did not get to see), which leads me to remind everyone of this – Remember when you’re dealing with artistic endeavors and your desire to give opinions of them (music, art, design, etc etc)…there is a difference in being critical and critiquing. You can love it or hate on it all you want – just do it with class. Anyways, let me know what you think of the track! On that note, stay up stay strong and Keep It Rotatin’!

Ayyy whats gooood Earthlings! I’ve only got a few minutes before I need to bounce out of here, but wanted to throw a few things down. I’m about to go get this tattoo finished up today. I’ve got a couple that need to be fixed later, but was itchin to get this tiger on my arm..so bam! I’ll post a picture later this evening. I’ve been putting all the money on music lately to make this album happen, but I wanted to start it off with something motivational. My tigers in that “I’m about to pounce on yo head sucka!” position…that’s how I’m coming at this music this year.

Anyways, my girlfriends son is going to be 11 today, so we’re going to go do the birthday shuffle with him. I’ll get at yall later. I’ve gotta get up and on the move. Stay up and ™Keep It Rotatin’!

So I built a blog. It crashed. I re-did it and pointed the main domain pointer to the blog link. THAT crashed. I started over. The database today wasn’t working. I wanted to throw the computer. However, I have finally conquered this.
